Ten Ways You Can Tell You're Reading An Amy Fortuna Story
1. It's about dying, especially in pursuit of forbidden love. I have a lot of stories that do that.
2. It involves an unreliable narrator. Oh, how I love my unreliable narrators.
3. The title is taken from whatever song I was listening to at the time, although almost none of the fics I've written were songfics in the specific sense.
4. The sex is kind of vague, if it happens at all. (That would be due to me being a big ol' virgin when I wrote most of what I wrote.)
5. It's written in first person POV, or third person limited. I do love getting inside their heads.
6. It's short, generally under 2000 words.
7. It involves angst and unrequited love.
8. When it's a happy story, the narrator waxes almost lyrical about his or her beloved, and the lover does pretty much the same back. Then there is sex and/or kissing.
9. The title of the fic is usually a phrase that is in the story itself, generally reflecting the main theme.
10. Did I mention the part where it's about death? Yeah.
